The William S. Webb Museum of Anthropology & Office of State Archaeology provides public programs and outreach support to help libraries, schools, museums, parks, community groups, public agencies, and local organizations learn about archaeology, anthropology, cultural heritage, and responsible stewardship.
Outreach activities may include public talks, classroom presentations, library programs, educational events, digital resources, community programs, and collaborative projects. Topics may include Kentucky archaeology, archaeological methods, artifact stewardship, collections care, public archaeology, cultural resource management, or the role of OSA in documenting and preserving archaeological information across the Commonwealth.
Outreach Opportunities
Depending on staff availability and program capacity, WSWMA & OSA may be able to support:
- Public talks or presentations
- Library speaker programs
- Classroom or school programs
- Community archaeology programs
- Educational events hosted by libraries, museums, parks, or historical organizations
- Digital or virtual presentations
- Guidance on responsible reporting and stewardship
- Collaborative programs with public agencies, nonprofits, or community partners
Because WSWMA & OSA is a small service unit with statewide responsibilities, not all outreach requests can be accommodated. Staff will review requests based on availability, mission alignment, audience, timing, and the type of program requested.
Request a Program
Organizations interested in an outreach program should submit a request with as much advance notice as possible. Requests should include the name of the organization, proposed date or timeframe, location or format, audience, expected number of participants, preferred topic, and any specific goals for the program. Online Resources and K–12 & Classroom Resources
Online archaeology and anthropology resources are currently in development. Future resources may include introductory guides, downloadable handouts, digital exhibits, artifact stewardship information, classroom materials, and links to partner resources.
K–12 and classroom resources are currently in development. Future materials may include lesson ideas, classroom activities, digital exhibit materials, object-based learning resources, and guidance for responsible engagement with archaeological materials.
